Start-up is an entity that develops a business model based on either product innovation or service innovation and makes it scalable, replicable and self-reliant. Innovations have a strong linkage to the world of startup. Solutions to unsolved problems form the basis for thinkers to innovate.
On January 16, 2016, the Honorable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi launched the 'Start-up India' program. The 'Start-up India' program is intended to build a robust eco-system for nurturing innovation and start-ups which will in turn drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities in India.
Allana Institute of Management Sciences have created “Startup & Innovation Cell”, as per the guidelines of Centre of Innovation, Incubation and Linkages, SPPU
To develop entrepreneurial skills among students and faculties.
To inculcate a culture of innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
To promote new technology/ knowledge/ innovation-based startups.
To build a vibrant startup ecosystem, by establishing a network between academia, financial institutions, industries, and other institutes.
As per the instructions received from Savitribai Phule Pune University, We at Allana Institute of Management Sciences, Pune has created ‘Startup and innovation Cell’ as given below:

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fortnight was stablished in October 2019, under the dynamic leadership & guidance of the Director, Faculty members and students. This 15 days fortnight was a blend of competitions, movie screening and expert sessions from mentors who motivated and inspired the students to build new business ideas as well shared with the students their mantras of success and shape the students into better future entrepreneurs.
This entire 15 days programme was classified into a group of five valuable formats:
Sculpting: Mentoring Sessions by various Experts from different industries.
Udaan: Business Plan Competition.
Daastan: Story Telling Competition of Entrrepreneurs.
Tasveer: Poster Competition on Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
Bioscope: Movie Screening
Guest Speaker and mentor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fortnight Week held on 3rd October 2019 was Mr.Anant Sardeshmukh. He is a very senior corporate professional with many decades of professional experience. He has been the Director General of the Maratha Chamber of Commerce and is respected mentor. The topic for the session was Government Schemes for MSME’s. The session started with felicitation of the guest speaker followed by the program's perspective which was set by Mr.Raheel Inamdar.
In this session Dr.Anant Sardeshmukh guided about the Government Schemes of The Ministry for Small and Medium Enterprises.
Mrs. Kiran Bhatt was the Session Speaker for the day, who is the Managing Director, Xebec Communications Private Limited. She is an Advertising professional and internationally reputed. She mentored the students about facing competition in Business.
This session ended at 5pm with very interactive discussion where students put forth their questions before the Guest Speaker Mrs.Kiran Bhatt and discussed different Business Ideas.
As a part of I&E Week on 5th October 2019 there was a exciting session by Mr.Sandeep Dave from Ahmadabad who is a Consultant in Innovation and Entrepreneurship with excellent track record. This was a pre-lunch session from 9am to 1pm which started with the Director setting the perspective of the session and welcoming guest speaker.
In this session Mr.Sandeep Dave shared his life experience and gave students ideas for different Business Plan and also told students how to deal with the obstacles and failures forthcoming ones way before achieving success.
Post lunch session started at 2pm where a very interesting competition called Udaan was arranged for the students where students actively participated and came up with the Innovative Business Plans. This competition was judged by Guest Speaker Mr.Sandeep Dave.
A Movie screening was organized on Monday 7th October at 3pm in the Hi-tech Hall. The movie named ‘Sui-Dhaga’ which is based on the failures faced during the journey of an Entrepreneur and all the struggles which he had to face are shown in this movie.
All the students enjoyed the movie screening and also learned about importance of continuous hard work in entrepreneurship. The movie ended at 5:15 pm.
There was an exciting story telling competition based on the lives of Entrepreneurs and Innovators. Participating students presented fascinating stories of local as well as International Entrepreneurs which inspired one and all. This competition was judged by Dr. Ashfak Shaikh, HOD, MCA Dept and Mr.Raheel Inamdar, Assistant professor.
On the 11th October, a very important and high impact session was conducted by the Director of Allana Institute of Management Sciences, Pune on the Topic “Transformation through Innovation”.
It was a power pact excellent session by Dr. R.Ganesan which ended at 5pm.
The session started at 3pm with the felicitation of the guest speaker. The session was mentored by Mr. Ashish Palande who is Director of Palande Couriers. This session was based on Case Study of Palande Couriers. Followed by Tasveer Competition where students presented posters based on the theme of the fortnight.
The competition was judged by the Director Dr.R.Ganesan and the Guest Speaker Mr.Ashish Palande.
In the continuation of Expert Guest Lectures series of “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fortnight 2019” on 14th October there was a mentoring session by Dr. Rama Venkatachalam on “Entrepreneurial Motivation”.
It was the last day of the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fortnight 2019” It started with the mentoring session by Mr. Arvind Budhani of famous Budhani wafers company. The oldest and most reputed firms in Pune. Mr.Budhani spoke on Budhanis Journey. The session started with the felicitation of guest speaker and followed by session.
The session lasted for 90 minutes followed by the valedictory program. The 15 days “Innovation & Entrepreneurship Fortnight 2019” ended with the prize distribution ceremony, by awarding students who won the competitions.
The participants and winners of the competition were felicitated by the Guest Speaker Mr. Budhani, Dr. R. Ganesan , Dr. Roshan Kazi HOD, MBA.
All the faculty members and students who organized this fortnight event were also felicitated.
This Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week ended on a high note, motivating and inspiring students and boosting their entrepreneurial ideas and plans.
