About the Library

AIMS Library has a rich collection of Text Books, Reference Books, National and International Journals, and Magazines. The Institute has a sufficient budget allocated every year for the library to procure various reference and text books as required by the faculty and students in accordance with the norms of AICTE and SPPU.

Automation & Software: The library is fully automated with “VRIDDHI”, an Integrated Library Management Software encompassing all operational modules. The traditional library has transformed into an automated resource center featuring Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and a Barcoding system for books, non-book materials, and student identity cards, enabling instant laser scanning for issuing and returning items.

Security: The entire Library environment is under CCTV Surveillance 24/7 to ensure a safe learning space.

Networks: The library is connected with leading library networks including DELNET, the British Council Library, and the National Digital Library of India. Journals and magazines are subscribed to in both physical and digital formats.

Library Advisory Committee (LAC)

The AIMS library is guided by an advisory committee that oversees policy formulation, collections development, services, and facilities to ensure the needs of the academic community are met.

Role & Responsibility: The LAC makes recommendations concerning library needs and coordinates effectively between students, faculty members, and library staff.

Library Rules & Regulations

  1. Book Issue Timing: 10:00 AM till 4:45 PM.
  2. E-Library Timing: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
  3. ID Card: Carrying your student/faculty ID card is compulsory in the library.
  4. Attendance: Enter your name in the Library attendance register and scan your ID for Digital attendance record.
  5. Borrowing Limits: A maximum of three books will be issued at a time for a duration of two weeks.
  6. Late Returns: Return books on or before the due date, else a fine of Rs. 5/- per day will be charged against each book.
  7. Reference Materials: Certain documents are intended to be used only inside library premises. These include reference books, rare books, current & bound periodicals, and CDs/DVDs.
  8. Quiet Environment: No loud conversation or group discussions are allowed inside the library.
  9. Equipment: Laptops or computers used in the library must have their own power and cable connectors.
  10. Food & Drinks: No food or drink of any kind is allowed in the library premises.
  11. Card Transfer: Borrowing materials without a valid membership/identity number is prohibited. No one will be permitted to use another member’s ID to borrow materials.
  12. Shelving: Do not reshelve books or periodicals. Leave them properly on the tables after use.
  13. PCs Usage: Do not attempt to install any unauthorized software or programs on the E-Library PCs.
  14. Mobile Phones: Keep your mobile phones strictly in silent mode in the Library.
  15. Personal Belongings: Please take your personal belongings with you when exiting. The library is not responsible for any items left behind.

Library Services & Access

Library Membership

Access control identity cards are issued to all library members. Members must present their ID cards at the time of issue/return. If a card is lost or damaged, a fee of Rs. 150/- is charged to issue a duplicate. Library cards are strictly non-transferable.

Procedure for Issuing Student ID Card

  • Bring your Admission receipt and two passport-sized photographs.
  • Fill out the Membership Form and submit it at the library counter.
  • Confirm that you have read and accepted the Library Rules.
  • Collect the ID card from the library on the specified date (no additional fees required).

ID Card Procedure for Faculty & Staff

On appointment as full-time faculty or administrative staff, he/she automatically becomes a member. Visiting faculty will be issued one Library Card on application in the prescribed form, which remains active for their teaching duration.

DELNET & British Council Access

Circulation of Materials

The library follows an Open Access System. Members may check out books or journals during working hours and sign them out at the library counter. Students can check out up to 3 books and 1 bound journal at any time for two weeks. Faculty members can check out up to 15 books for the entire semester period (six months).

Special Facilities

  • Book Bank Facility: Students can borrow syllabus books for the whole semester by depositing a refundable security deposit.
  • E-Library: The library provides 22 network-connected computers for accessing online journals, databases, and OPAC. PC usage is restricted to academic work.
  • Photocopying: In-library photocopy services are available for official academic work.
  • Interlibrary Loan: Request materials not owned by AIMS from other libraries across the Azam Campus through institutional MOUs. British Library membership cards are also available via the librarian.

Circulation Section

The Circulation Section is the focal point of the library, facilitating the issue, return, renewal, and reservation of books and study materials. Our operations are fully automated using the advanced "VRIDDHI" Integrated Library Management Software coupled with quick barcode scanning, ensuring fast and efficient service delivery for students and faculty alike.

Key responsibilities of this section include student & staff library registrations, book transactions, overdue fine collection, issuing no-dues clearance certificates, and addressing member account queries.

Reading Room

The library features a spacious, well-ventilated, and noise-free Reading Room designed to accommodate students looking for a distraction-free learning environment. Comfortable seating arrangements, individual reading tables, and optimized natural lighting create a highly productive space suitable for self-study and deep research.

Students can refer to daily newspapers, national & international journals, and rare reference books directly inside this section. We maintain strict silence to preserve the academic focus of the room.

E-Library

The state-of-the-art E-Library acts as a gateway to global digital knowledge. Equipped with 22 high-configuration computers connected to high-speed internet, it provides students and faculty with instant access to e-journals, online research databases, and institutional repositories.

Users can browse through subscriptions such as DELNET, British Council Library, and the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), download research articles, and search library holdings via the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).

Stacking Section

The Stacking Section houses our extensive physical collection of books, monographs, project reports, and reference literature. Books are systematically cataloged and classified using standardized library classification systems, making it simple for readers to browse and locate required books on the shelves.

We practice an open-access system, permitting students and faculty to directly browse and select materials off the shelves. Our collection is regularly updated to stay aligned with current University curricula and academic standards.

Staff Reading Room

The Staff Reading Room is a dedicated private study area set aside for faculty and administrative staff. It is designed to support academic planning, lecture preparation, and research collaboration among teachers.

This room includes specialized research publications, reference encyclopedias, policy guidelines, and collaborative meeting setups, ensuring our educators have the resources and quiet space they need to design high-quality learning plans.
